Nearly 30 Scarborough High School students participated in the beta test of D. Samuels & Associates’ (DSA) Construction Career Combine on Wednesday December 13, 2017. Students were assessed using both traditional and nontraditional methods measuring their construction skills.
“The students were very engaged and worked well in both team and individual assessments” stated DSA Job Developer Anthony Wallace. “They did a great job representing Scarborough High.”
The next phase of the Construction Career Combine is set to take place in January 2018. Participants will be evaluated and placed for hire with a variety of participating subcontractors working on HISD 2012 bond funded projects. In addition to the combine, DSA has developed a follow up career development program, $1,000,000 Blueprint, to educate participants on lucrative construction careers and show them the steps to earning a million dollars in the construction industry.
We greatly appreciate Scarborough High School’s Construction Technical Education instructor Mr. Nathan Arriens, as well as the Scarborough staff and students for their participation and assistance as we continue to encourage and build lives using construction careers.
